We had my son's 40th birthday for 25 here last weekend. The staff was so attentive in setting up the room just the way i wanted. Amanda, in charge of catering was so accommodating in helping me plan the menu and taking my calls whenever I had questions. The food was excellent and the service perfect. It was such a relief to be served in such capable hands which allowed me a fun and worry free party. I highly recommend Matt's - their great food cans caring staff.

After going to mass this evening, my wife and I decided to have dinner here. My wife has been here several times, but it was my first time. Needless to say, we had such a wonderful time. Our server, Christa A, was great! She always saw to our needs. The female manager came over several times, and told her how much we enjoyed our dinner, and server.
If anyone comes here, ask for Christ A, she is great! -

This is a place that knocks on 5 but comes in at a solid 4. Here's why.
The parking can be a challenge as this area has some popular places late afternoon and into the evening. Don't pass up a spot in hopes you get closer as there is a line behind you!
The patio is absolutely wonderful! Enough of a wall to keep you from feeling like you are sitting on the busy street! There is shade and some protection from the wind.
Inside, you see a decor that hearkens to the original Lakewood location. There is the famous mural, the terracotta suns on the sky blue wall and other TexMex decorations everywhere. The bar is huge and full of happiness (or maybe patrons that have had a wee bit). The service is quick and attentive.
On my last trip it was to try the famous Chicken Fried Steak. It is huge, heavy and show up hungry! It was out quickly, hot, fresh tasting, great spicy batter with dreamy cream gravy. The meat is tenderized and lets you sink your teeth in it! The fries, well, they needed some work as they were hardly warm and tasteless. The others at the table mentioned their meals were only okay in flavor, with more taste of grease and not a lot of flavors in the beef and the chicken. (I tried and agreed.) The re-fried beans needed a bit more spice. The famous Bob Armstrong Dip's cheese seemed devoid of flavor and was a bit watery.
Their iced tea is always perfect strength with plenty of ice and they keep your glass full of both. The beers brought to the table were very cold.
The price is very reasonable, but the food flavors seemed flat to all. At least my steak was great! -

Participating in the Margarita mike and found this gem.... prickly pear and chipotle pineapple margaritas are the best! We got to meet Matt! The 3rd and best Matt in the Family. See the picture! He's sitting by the birthday girl.

Great staff, great food, great atmosphere! Super friendly hosts when you walk in. Joel the bartender is always attentive to my needs. This is my go to for a Tex-mex fix.
